Aural tests, practised properly
An examiner who plays, listens — and marks what you say about the music.
Practise every aural test of your music exam at home: echo singing, clapping, spotting changes, cadences, modulations and the “musical features” questions — answered out loud, marked like an examiner would.
Hear a piece, then tell the examiner about it
Answer out loud (or type). You'll get a mark and the answer the examiner hopes to hear.
About 2 minutes · uses your microphone if you answer aloud
How it works
1
Choose your exam
Board and grade — ABRSM Initial to Grade 8 today, with RCM, AMEB and Trinity formats alongside.
2
The examiner plays, you respond
Sing it back, clap it, name the cadence, or talk about the dynamics, tempo, character and period — out loud or typed.
3
See exactly what to fix
Note-by-note singing feedback, rhythm checks, a mark for your spoken answer and the answer an examiner hopes to hear.
What's different here
Most aural apps check singing against a recording or give you multiple choice. The hardest part of the exam — describing the music in your own words — usually gets a model answer and nothing more. We mark it.
Your spoken answer, marked
Say “it started quietly and got louder, and the notes were short and bouncy” — we recognise it as piano, crescendo, staccato and tell you what's missing.
Music that sounds like music
Phrases with proper cadences and voice-leading, plus real public-domain repertoire from Bach to Debussy for style and period.
Private by design
Singing, clapping and (where your browser can) speech are analysed on your device. We never keep recordings.
Full mocks with an estimate
Exam order, the right number of playings, an estimated mark on the board's scale and where marks slip.

Questions
Is this an official ABRSM (or RCM, AMEB, Trinity) product?
No. We are an independent practice tool and are not affiliated with or endorsed by any exam board. We follow each board's published format and create every exercise ourselves — we never copy the boards' specimen tests.
How does it mark my singing and clapping?
Your device listens: it tracks the pitch of each note you sing and the timing of each clap, then compares them with what was played — ignoring which octave you sing in and the speed you clap at. We tested it on 260 singing and 260 clapping recordings (children's and adult voices, deliberate mistakes): it agreed with the expected verdict 94% and 98.5% of the time, and never passed a wrongly sung phrase.
How can it mark what I say about the music?
Every piece has an answer key: the dynamics, articulation, tempo, tonality, character, period, texture and structure of the performance you hear. Your answer — spoken or typed — is matched against it in plain English or Italian terms, and an AI examiner looks at answers worded in unusual ways. You get a mark, what you missed, and a model answer.
Is my child's voice recorded?
No recordings are kept. Singing and clapping are analysed on the device. Spoken answers are turned into text on the device where the browser supports it; otherwise, with your OK, the answer is sent once to a speech service, turned into text and deleted immediately.
Do I need to sign up?
No. You get free practice every day without an account. Sign-in (for adults, by e-mail link) only keeps progress and passes across devices.
Is the mock exam mark real?
It's an estimate on the board's scale (for ABRSM, out of 18), based on how you did in each test. Examiners mark the aural section as a whole and can weigh things differently, so treat it as a guide to where you're losing marks — not a prediction of your result.
Is there a cheaper option?
If you only want listening drills without singing and clapping feedback or marking of spoken answers, e-musicmaestro (from about £3.99 a month) is a well-known alternative. Our free daily practice is also always available.
Which grades and boards are covered?
ABRSM Initial to Grade 8 in full, including mocks, with RCM, AMEB and Trinity formats added. The board and grade you choose set the exact tests, keys, ranges and wording.
